Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 Now Live For All Backers

starcitizenandromeda

Following a short period of limited access, the long-awaited 2.0 update for the Star Citizen Alpha is now available for all backers. Everyone who has backed Star Citizen at a level that gives them access to the game can now take part in the same activities shown in the awesome trailer first shown at The Game Awards. Run around in real-time with friends. Pilot multi-crew vessels. Take part in open world missions. The Constellation, Retaliator, and Vanguard are now in-game. Ships can now travel at 0.2 the speed of light. It's all here.

This is, however, only the first pass at the game at large. The game world is limited to one planet, three moons, and three stations currently. More will be added in the near future, but this build appears to largely be focused on nailing down the game mechanics in an environment where they are all starting to come together in one seamless universe.

For more information, head to the official news post. Unfortunately, while the free play period is meant to last another three days, it does not appear that those playing for free are being given access to Alpha 2.0.
