The Battle.net App Is Now The "Blizzard App"

Last September, Blizzard Entertainment announced that it would be retiring the Battle.net moniker and replacing it with generic "Blizzard" branding for all of its products. At the time, the company stated that its reason for doing so was that "there’s been occasional confusion and inefficiencies related to having two separate identities under which everything falls—Blizzard and Battle.net." It's a pretty reasonable reason, all things considered.

The roll-out of the Blizzard moniker began only a month later with the release of Blizzard Voice. The game-agnostic voice chat platform was integrated into the Battle.net client for users to make use of in-game, should they not already be invested in another platform, such as Discord, Mumble, TeamSpeak, or Ventrilo.

Last night, all Battle.net branding was removed from the Battle.net app, as you can see in the image above, replaced by the Blizzard logo. The app is now called the "Blizzard app," and the change of name has been so absolute that they've even remembered to change the name on the download page. This might be a little confusing in the coming weeks, however, as the website is still Battle.net.

As evidenced by this Reddit thread, many users are bothered by the change of name, having become accustomed to the Battle.net name that had been in use for over two decades. How do you feel about the name change?
