Worlds Adrift's Closed Beta Begins This Wednesday

Following a short delay announced late last month, Bossa Studios announced today that the Closed Beta for its long-awaited SpatialOS-powered MMO Worlds Adrift will begin this Wednesday, May 24th. At the beginning of Closed Beta, the game will be made available to "batches of players" at a time, so as to keep the otherwise large influx of players from crashing the game's servers and causing various other issues. It was previously stated that Closed Beta would be paid, but a price was not noted in the announcement.

I imagine that Closed Beta will also be first come, first served and that that is why Bossa also announced the exact starting time for the Closed Beta. It is set to begin at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT, at which time I imagine that it will be somewhat of a mad dash to obtain one of a small number of copies.

If you're currently in Alpha, however, you will only be able to continue playing the Alpha version until tomorrow. The Alpha servers are being shut down tomorrow in order to prepare for Wednesday's Closed Beta launch.

As was previously announced, the Closed Beta itself is expected to last three or four months. The servers will be reset at the end of Closed Beta, "but Beta players will be able to keep special items that will not be available again after the reset." Keep that in mind when deciding whether you want to take part in the Closed Beta.
