Zenith will soon be entering maintenance mode as developer Ramen VR prepares to roll out the VR MMORPG’s final content update and its fourth and final season later this month. The studio hasn’t confirmed exactly when the update will arrive, but it did say that it’s eyeing a launch date by the end of August.

Season 4: Golden Isles promises several new and returning features including player trading, new island layouts for the Zenith: Infinite Realms spinoff, the return of the fast gliding which was disabled shortly after the game’s launch, as well as a variety of bug fixes.

Season 4 will mark the end of active development on the Zenith Nexus collection, but Ramen VR promises to keep the servers running “for as long as possible” for those who want to continue exploring the vast virtual world and its free-to-play arena style spinoff.

“We’re grateful for you, all the Zenitheans who have been here since the beginning, as well as anyone who chooses to pick up the game in the future,” Ramen VR wrote. “Your passion is what brings Zenith to life, and we hope you continue to make new friends and cherished memories in Zenith for the foreseeable future.”

Understandably, players aren’t taking the news well and have turned to Reddit and Steam to voice their displeasure, especially since the developers are apparently abandoning Zenith for another project.

Zenith first made waves in 2019 when it raised over $280,000 during its month-long Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. The VR-only MMORPG officially launched in 2022 to high praises from the community but ended up being a flash in the pan as players began to leave, presumably due to the lack of content updates, and the indie studio’s funding started to dry up.

Ramen VR’s recent attempt to bolster the player population with the Infinite Realms apparently also failed as it not only drew flak from existing players but also ended up being a big disappointment to both old players and new.

Thank You, Zenitheans
