Ubisoft’s new multi-franchise free-to-play competitive shooter XDefiant launched on PC and consoles earlier this week to matchmaking issues as the servers struggled to accommodate the massive influx of players. The problems, however, were resolved in a matter of hours and it looks like the matchmaking servers are now better able to handle the strain.

In fact, the studio was even confident enough to trumpet its friend referral program in hopes of bringing even more players into the fray. It’s also encouraging players to purchase founder’s packs which come with exclusive skins, faction and character unlocks, XP boosts, premium currency, access to the pre-season premium battle pass, and more.

Meanwhile, players have found some other things to complain about, including latency issues, gameplay balance, and the lack of game modes. That being said, it’s also being praised for its refreshing change of pace compared to other team-based shooters. Fortunately, it’s free-to-play so you can check it out for yourself on your platform of choice.

“Ubisoft's worlds collide in a free-to-play, first-person arena shooter where you compete to be the best in fast-paced online matches! Join an always-evolving experience with regular updates bringing new playable factions and a growing collection of maps, weapons, and game modes.”

XDefiant is available on PC via the Ubisoft Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
