It’s always a dream come true for publishers and developers when their game turns out to be a huge hit. It can, however, also be a nightmare as droves of players push the servers to their limits. Lost Ark is no exception as Amazon Game Studios tries to cope with the massive influx of players in both the North American and European regions.

Player concurrency numbers reached an all-time high of 1,325, 305 players over the weekend, taking the second-highest spot on Steam’s Most Played Games list. Unfortunately, this mean that queue times also soared through the roof, particularly in the European region. Amazon assures players that they’re currently working on a fix which involves creating an entirely new region for European players. The new region, once opened, will cater to new players and will not support cross-play between existing servers.

“We’re blown away by the number of players that have joined us in Lost Ark since our launch on Friday. Arkesia is filled to the brim with eager players, so we’re working as quickly as possible to set up an entirely new region of servers in Europe,” said Amazon. “Due to the game’s architecture this is the only way to accommodate more players in Europe so it’s a joint effort between Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG.”

“Please note that this will be a distinct new region (separated from Central Europe) without cross-region play availability. This also means that region-wide features, such as your Royal Crystal and Silver balances from Central Europe will not be accessible in the new European region,” they added.
