Is ASTA Online Making A Comeback?

ASTA Online relaunched on Steam last Wednesday, published by Move Games, after shutting down in all regions due to various circumstances. It was pitched as the "Asian World of Warcraft," but nothing could save it from a lack of updates. It launched here in the West long after the Korean version stopped receiving updates and the Western version shut down after only seven months online.

Given its history, I didn't think that it would do well after relaunching. To my surprise, there were over 1000 people playing ASTA Online concurrently at peak on its first day online. Since then, the game's playerbase has continued to grow, with a record peak of 1838 concurrent players hit around an hour ago.

So is ASTA Online making a comeback? I've not seen Move Games advertise the game anywhere and it's hard to imagine that it garnered a concurrent peak of nearly 2000 players simply because all of them stumbled upon it and decided that it was worth trying.

Even if the game is making a comeback, it remains to be seen whether Move Games will be able to retain the playerbase. One of the most prevalent problems with ASTA Online was the lack of significant updates. It remains to be seen whether Move Games will make an attempt to change that.
