ASTA Online Has Relaunched On Steam

ASTA Online...didn't have a great first run here in the West. It didn't have a great first run anywhere, for that matter, but I digress. The game was only online for seven months before WEBZEN shut down its English version of the game, citing low player numbers as the reason for the shutdown.

Earlier this year, Digimon Masters Online developer Move Games silently posted the game to Greenlight. We're not really sure how or why the company obtained the license to the game, which had stopped receiving updates mere months after its original launch in South Korea, but it was eventually greenlit and Move Games set its release for sometime this month.

As of today, the game is back, now published by Move Games. It's a little bit unclear whether the game will continue to receive updates, but you can relive the experience of playing what was once marketed as the "Asian World of Warcraft," should you want to.

The Steam audience seemed to take to it almost immediately, hitting an early peak concurrent user count of 1,160 according to SteamCharts, but it dropped off hard within several hours, with the last available concurrent user count reading 689. That being said, both numbers are far higher than I expected, given the game's past.

Are you planning to play ASTA now that Move Games has relaunched it?
