Black Desert Online Reworks Balenos Questline And Adds A New Hunting Zone

This week’s Black Desert Online update for PC revamps the entire Balenos questline including the hub town of Velia. The questline now comes with fully-voiced cutscenes, enhanced visuals for NPCs, and streamlined quest pathing as part of Pearl Abyss renewed focus on storytelling.

The bulk of the update focuses on balance adjustments for all playable classes. Of significant note is a massive nerf for Shai, specifically a decrease in her innate ability to reduce damage taken from monsters.

The update also opens up the new Elvia Calpheon realm where players will be able to revisit transformed versions of popular grinding zones with brand new mechanics.

“Each of the old and familiar monster zones were given unique and interesting mechanic due to the Elvia Distortion Phenomenon and the Rift of Despair at its center,” said Pearl Abyss. “The mechanics that can increase your efficiency are listed below, so be sure to take note of them. Elvia Calpheon will drop materials required to obtain the new ‘Godr-Ayed’ weapons and their enhancement materials. It also drops new loot items required to upgrade alchemy stones as well. We hope this will become a new challenge that our Adventurers will eagerly charge in to take on.”
