Unlike previous Call of Duty title releases, Activision will be releasing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 single-player campaign one week in advance to give players time to complete it so they can jump right in to multiplayer matches on launch day.

Early access to the campaign will be exclusively available to those who pre-order the game. Pre-orders will also come with a guaranteed invite to the Modern Warfare beta test this September and the Final Judgement Bundle which includes the Legendary “Deathknell” operator and “Bloodthirsty” weapon skins for Warzone and Vanguard. Both can be claimed immediately after purchase.

The highly-awaited remake now has three separate release dates: October 20th for the campaign, October 28th for multiplayer, and an unknown date for the still unannounced Call of Duty: Warzone sequel.

The single-player campaign will drop players into the shoes of various members of Task Force 141 as they team up with Mexican Special Forces to take on a new global threat. Expect to see familiar faces including Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, Simon “Ghost” Riley, John “Soap” MacTavish, and the infallible Captain John Price, along with a new member, Colonel Alejandro Vargas of the Mexican Special Forces.

If previous Call of Duty campaigns are any indication, you probably won’t need a full week to complete the entire campaign, but there’s always multiplayer to look forward to.
