CCP Games has pulled out of the VR market as of last Friday with the closure of all of its VR titles. These include the space dogfighting game EVE: Valkyrie, sci-fi first-person shooter EVE: Gunjack, futuristic sports game Sparc.

The sunset dates for all three VR titles were announced back in July as CCP Games began its drawdown from VR game development to focus on its portfolio of non-VR EVE Universe games. CCP’s failed attempt at entering the VR market started back in 2015 with an infusion of $30 million from several venture capital firms and high hopes that VR gaming will gain traction in a few years’ time.

VR gaming did blow up in the following, but unfortunately for CCP, it’s lineup of VR games failed to catch the eye of the VR community. This led to the shutdown of CCP’s VR development studios and ultimately its decision to pull the plug on all of its VR projects.
