Chronicles Of Elyria Demonstrates Aging & Body Mechanics

Soulbound Studios has unveiled aging and body mechanics in a new video for their upcoming MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria. Aging is one of the game's core mechanics: as character's age their physical attributes decline while mental and social skills become easier to develop. I'm already in the aging stage of my life now.

The video below demonstrates a character aging from 25 to 75 years old, which will take approximately 7 months in game. You can also see the body's dynamics, which will alter in size and shape depending on a player's chosen profession. It's apparently safe to say that a librarian will not have the same physique as a warrior.

It's an interesting feature and I'm looking forward to seeing player reactions when the game releases. Avatars do not persist in Chronicles of Elyria's world so I wonder if players who invest time in character customization will appreciate the mechanic or prefer a game where their avatar lives forever.

Chronicles of Elyria will be launching a KickStarter campaign on May 03, 2016.
