Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Will Be A Standalone Product Says CD Projekt Red

cyberpunk 2077 bar crowd bannerEven though Cyberpunk 2077 is technically a single-player game, we’ve been keeping a close eye on it because of its promised multiplayer mode. Exact dates are still a mystery considering that the game hasn’t even launched yet but new information about the multiplayer mode has come to light.

During CD Projekt Red’s Q3 2020 investor call, the studio revealed that multiplayer will be a standalone product rather than a game mode. “So, first, we don’t call it modes. It’s a separate dedicated production, a big production. And we plan — we think about it as a standalone product,” said CDPR President and Joint-CEO Adam Kiciński. “Obviously, it’s not entirely standalone as it comes from the universe of Cyberpunk and is very much related to the concept of single player Cyberpunk we — I came up with. But from our perspective, it’s — is another independent production and independent team of people works on it.”

The team promised to share more information about multiplayer in the first quarter of 2021. Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to launch on December 10th on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and on Google Stadia, unless the developers decide to push it back again.
