Frontier Developments announced today that the latest major Elite Dangerous update, 2.2: The Guardians, will be entering Beta on September 20th. The Beta will be available exclusively to those who have purchased both the Horizons expansion and Beta access, which will be available on the Frontier Store for a mere £6.99. If you previously purchased Beta access pre-launch, you will not have to purchase access to the 2.2: The Guardians Beta.

For those of you that don't know what 2.2: The Guardians entails, a bevy of details about the update were previously announced at gamescom. Additions include the ability to take on passenger missions, fly ship-launched fighters, recruit NPCs as crew members, get access to a large assortment of quality of life improvements, and fly the new Beluga liner, which you can see in the image above, among others.

A Reddit user has provided a helpful image that lists all of the update's new features. You can find it embedded below or read the more detailed version on the official website.
