Elite Dangerous Details Plans For Next Week’s Odyssey Multi-Phase Public Alpha
Frontier Developments is gearing up for the start of the Elite Dangerous Odyssey Alpha next week by revealing the roadmap for the multi-phase test. The expansion will add the ability to explore planets on foot along with a variety of ground-based missions and first-person combat.
Phase 1 kicks off on Monday and will be focusing on putting the core systems and the servers through its paces. Players will be able to participate in various activities such as salvage and collect and delivery missions. Exploration, however, will be limited to a single star system to maximize the chances that players will run into each other.
Phase 2 will revolve around combat, weapons, and balancing. Phase 3 will expand the explorable “bubble” and will focus on exploration, including the First Footfall achievement system. Phase 4 will be the final phase in the public Alpha and will involve testing the expansion for compatibility with the existing game mechanics. Each phase will run for an indefinite period of time and may be extended should more data be needed.
