Elite Dangerous: Horizons is launching sooner than expected with an official release date of December 15th. Planetary landings are just under a week away for players of the MMO space flight simulator. Those who pre-order now will get access to the base game and can begin their journey through the depths of space immediately.

In addition to planetary landing, several other major updates are planned for the "season of expansions" that is Horizons. Loot and crafting will be added alongside a "world of customization options." Multicrew vessels will be introduced. Players will be able to customize their commanders. Ship-launched fighters will allow players to carry a smaller vessel on board a larger craft. The season will be rounded out with additional content, such as new ships, new missions, and new Close Quarters Combat maps.
