Fallen Earth is back as Fallen Earth Classic two years after the original game was shut down. The game is now available for download on the GamersFirst official site and the servers are now live. The game will also be available on Steam as soon as the game is reactivated on the platform.

Keep in mind that Fallen Earth Classic isn’t the promised reboot, that’s still on the backburner, but it’s a working version of the game that should keep fans entertained for the time being. Also, while the game is perfectly playable, the team hasn’t gotten around to implementing any fixes or improvements just yet.

“I’m doing this in the spirit of fun and just getting the game back online,” Little Orbit CEO Matt Scott said earlier this week. “There were decisions that had to be made in order to pull this off. As we go through the rest of my bullets, just know that in each case I had to balance getting this back online in a reasonable amount of time versus the laundry list of things I’m sure players would have wanted.”

“We did our best. My hope is that players will enjoy the challenge of re-conquering the wastelands from scratch while they wait for the next version of the game,” he added.

That being said, the game is entirely free-to-play with no cash shop and no intention of being monetized. The team, however, is looking at possibly opening the highest level subscription rewards to all players.

Fallen Earth is a post-apocalyptic survival MMORPG that originally came out in September 2009. The IP was acquired by GamersFirst two years later before it was passed on to Little Orbit when the studio bought up GamersFirst in 2018. The game was shut down in 2019 due to poor performance, an abundance of bugs, and a dying playerbase, with plans to relaunch the game in the future.
