Final Fantasy XIV Dev talks about the future of Stormblood, featuring JP Sources

Before we dive in, a quick note: all information you're about to read here was featured in Japanese gamer magazines and news outlets. Translation of what you're about to read here was provided by Reddit user 'elevenmile,' and you can see his translation work from Japanese to English here.

With that out of the way, lets dive into business! Courtesy of elevenmile, we have a bunch of new information via interviews done with the Director-Producer of Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida. In interviews done with Famitsu, Dengeki Online, 4Gamer, and Game Watch, we have a comprehensive list of what to expect, coming in Patch 4.1 and Beyond. Lets dive in!

  • The Final Trial of Patch 4.0 will see an Extreme Version in Patch 4.1 (following the 2.0 and 3.0 track record, this was to be expected).
  • There might be plans to upgrade i290 Artifact Armor. There might not be. Yoshida was very coy on the subject.
  • Patch 4.1 will feature cross-server friend lists and /tell functions
  • The FFXIV Smartphone App is still in development
  • The Core of the Glamour System will be looked at and improved
  • A new difficulty mode, harder than the current Savage difficulty, will be introduced. There will be no story content with this new difficulty.
  • Usage of Jump Potions (character boosts) is much lower than anticipated.
  • The Patch 4.X series, known as the Stormblood Expansion, might feature a Patch 4.6 and Patch 4.7. Previously, the highest patch we've seen before a new expansion was X.56 (or X.57)

Additionally, Yoshida mentioned he wanted more language support for FFXIV, past English, French, German, and Japanese, but there is a great risk involved as adding too many languages could break down the development team.

Once again, thank elevenmile for bringing this information round up to us! You can check his original work on Reddit here.
