When Lord of the Rings Online opened its Anor and Ithil Legendary servers in November 2018, both servers were immediately swamped by players who wanted to start anew and experience the game from the beginning of the epic narrative.

As with all new servers, the population has steadily waned in both Anor and Ithil over time, with the latter becoming one of the lowest population servers in the game. In response to feedback from the community, Standing Stone Games has announced their decision to shut down Ithil on June 15.

“Ithil was initially opened in response to a large number of players logging into Anor during the launch of our Legendary Worlds, and while it has been home to many players since then, its population has always been among the lowest of our game worlds,” the studio explained. “Anor will remain home to our existing Legendary World experience while we bring out new server events and options in the future.”

Affected players will be able to transfer their characters for free to either Anor or any of the standard servers in North America or Europe. To facilitate the account transfer process, players are asked to claim all mail attachments and abandon or sell their kinship houses before the weekly downtime on June 16.
