Pangya Shutting Down on December 12, 2016

Although we're a bit late to report this, Pangya, the anime inspired golfing MMO, is set to shut down on December 12, 2016. The game's publisher, GameRage, said:

"It is with our heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Pangya (pangya.gamerage.com).

Pangya will be officially closed on December 12, 2016 and will remain accessible until that date.

We thank you for your support over the years and countless memorable experiences on Pangya."

Pangya had a long run, originally launching back in 2005 as Albatross18 through OGplanet until 2009 when SG Interactive took control of the game and renamed it Pangya. Despite never enjoying runaway success, Pangya ran for 11 years, making it one of the longest running free to play games. Having first played Pangya back in 2006, it's sad to see the game go. But alas, the cycle of new games replacing the old continues. It seems for every game that ends up shutting down, 2 more takes its place.

Those looking for another free to play golfing game can check out the long running Shot Online from GamesCampus (Actually their only game now) or the newer Winning Putt (now available on Steam). There's also Eagle: Fantasy Golf for mobile for those interested.

The Thai version of the game (linked here) seems to be unaffected by the global version's shutdown.
