The upcoming game is now expected to launch next fiscal year, which puts the release date sometime between April 1, 2022 and April 1, 2023.

The announcement was made during Ubisoft’s FY 2021 earnings report where they also revealed the launch windows and major update schedules for other games in their portfolio, including Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Quarantine (a.k.a. Rainbow Six Parasite), The Division Heartland, For Honor, and Watch Dogs: Legion.

“We strongly believe in the team’s creative vision and they have been given an increasingly ambitious mandate for the game,” said Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet as reported by VGC. “Production led by [Ubisoft] Singapore has been advancing well over the past 12 months and the promise is better than ever. The additional time will allow the team to fully deliver on its vision.”

Duguet also showed confidence in the Singapore studio’s ability to develop a unique naval combat experience because of their prior work on Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.

Skull and Bones was first announced at E3 2017 and is the first title to be led by Ubisoft Singapore. The game was initially slated to launch in late 2018 but has been delayed year after year. It has also seen a massive rework in 2020 following Ubisoft’s decision to switch to a live service business model and add more MMO elements, including dynamic storylines, quests, and NPCs that evolve over time based on the collective actions of the community.
