Ubisoft Is Reportedly Rebooting Skull And Bones As A Live Service Game

skull and bones ship concept artIt’s been more than a year since Ubisoft announced that they were delaying the Skull and Bones launch to 2020. Well, we’re more than halfway through the year but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the studio’s open-world pirate MMO.

Skull and Bones was first revealed in June 2017 at E3 and was initially scheduled for release in late 2018. It was then pushed back to April 2019, to 2020, and then later to 2021 as the game struggled to compete with Ubisoft’s other open-world titles.

According to VGC’s sources, the game is currently working on rebooting the game with a live service model which includes the addition of more MMO elements. These include a persistent game world with dynamic storylines, quests, and characters that will evolve over time based on the community’s collective actions. Ubisoft has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.

You’ll find the two-year-old official trailer below just in case you need a refresher.
