Star Citizen Delays ‘Assault On Stanton’ Dynamic Event To Next Year

star citizen space station assault bannerA few days ago, Cloud Imperium Games announced that they were rolling out the first-ever Star Citizen server-wide dynamic event this week called Assault on Stanton. Unfortunately, the developers felt that the scenario needed a little bit more polish and decided to push it back to next year. The multi-phase event will supposedly span several days and will feature large-scale capital ship battles against a galactic terrorist group known as XenoThreat.

“We have been holding regular invasion playtests with our Evocati Test groups on the PTU. Through these tests, we’ve come to realize that 1) the event is pretty damn fun, and 2) it could use more fixes to really polish it off. Rather than release to the live servers just for the sake of doing so before the holidays, we’d rather take a little more time and roll this out in the beginning of the new year proper.”

When asked why they announced the event then cancelled it the next, the developers said that things looked good at first and then they weren’t. They also said that they tried to recall the announcement when they found out that the event needed more testing but they weren’t fast enough. “Regardless though, we will always choose what's best for the game, even if that means making the difficult decision to hold off just a little bit longer,” they replied. “And even if it leaves egg on our marketing department’s face. We can take our lumps.”
