Final Fantasy XIV’s Housing Lottery System Hits A Major Snag

And the winner of Final Fantasy XIV’s new housing lottery is *drum roll please*… no one. Apparently, everyone lost in the first lottery cycle due to a major bug that caused the system to go haywire. A flood of complaints have been collated in on Reddit but they essentially boil down to two main issues:

The first is that some houses showed the winning bid to be the number “0”, even though there’s no player with that name in the game. Nobody ended up winning the said houses, even those with just one bid. The second issue had some houses showing that nobody bid on them despite the fact that multiple players did. Again, nobody ended up winning those houses.

According to reports, the issues seems to be affecting all housing plots and not just the new Empyreum plots in Ishgard.

As expected, Executive Producer Naoki Yoshida was quick to acknowledge the issues and apologized to the community for any inconvenience it might have caused. The team also extended the result announcement period for the previous lottery cycle while they look into the matter.

“We understand that this is a major issue, and are prioritizing our investigation into the matter. We are working to identify the issue in the corresponding program; however, as the process is very complex and there are many patterns involved for the lottery conditions, it will require some time to pinpoint the problem,” Yoshida said.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, but we ask for your patience a little while longer as focus our efforts on the investigation. We will not enter into the next lottery cycle until the investigation is complete and the situation is addressed,” he concluded.
