It’s been a year since Aaron Flynn and his new studio, Inflexion Games, first announced its flagship game Nightingale at last year’s The Game Awards. Since then, the studio has released a handful of new trailers and dev videos showcasing the Victorian era shared world multiplayer game’s realm-jumping mechanics.

Another The Game Awards has come and passed and Inflexion has dropped another trailer that offers a deeper look at what players can expect when the game launches into early access in the first half of 2023. The new trailer shows off the different environments and unique realms that players will get to explore as well as the dangers and monsters that they’ll be facing.

The studio also met with the press to talk up the Nightingale’s features in-depth, revealing that the game will allow for both solo and co-op PvE play but won’t have PvP. The servers will be capped at a maximum of six players at a time and will feature a “friends only” co-op system. The game will also be balanced for solo players so you won’t have to be forced to team up with other players if you don’t want to. The game will also feature a base-building system in the so-called Respite Realms where you’ll be able to build and craft in relative safety.

Unfortunately, Nightingale won’t be supporting player-run servers and everything will be run by the studio, nor will they support mods of any kind.

The team also touched on the concept of Realm Cards and how they’re essentially random tickets to move from one Realm to another. Several cards can be used in combination as seeds that will determine the characteristics of the worlds that they lead to, from its environment and climate to the resources that will be available in the world and the creatures that you’ll face.

You can check out a preview of those worlds in the new Realmwalker’s Journey trailer below.
