Polish Consumer Protection Office Is Threatening To Fine CD Projekt Red Over Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Fiasco

cyberpunk 2077 keyart yellow bannerAfter what could be one of the rockiest launches in gaming history, the pressure is steadily mounting on CD Projekt Red to deliver the promised fixes and performance improvements to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077. After being slapped with a lawsuit in the US, the studio is now potentially facing fines from the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

According to Polish publication Benchmark, the UOKiK is now keeping tabs on CD Projekt Red and is monitoring their progress on the promised patches that should fix the myriad of issues on last-gen console versions of Cyberpunk 2077. Should the studio fail to deliver, they may be fined up to 10% of their annual revenue.

“We will check how the manufacturer is working on introducing corrections or solving difficulties that prevent the game from playing on different consoles, but also how it intends to act in relation to people who have complained and are dissatisfied with the purchase due to the inability to play the game on their equipment despite the manufacturer’s previous assurances,” said UOKiK spokesperson Małgorzata Cieloch.

It's unlikely that CD Projekt Red will be fined, but it should be enough to light a fire under the studio.
