Over the past few months, several big name video game companies and developers have decided to dip their toes into the world of cryptocurrency, blockchain gaming, and NFT’s, the most recent of which is RF Online developer CCR.

The studio has risen from the dead with plans to relaunch the classic sci-fi fantasy MMORPG with play-to-earn mechanics. A new global server called the “Battle Coin” server will be launching sometime in the future with seasonal content drops, reports MMOCulture.

Each season will introduce new missions and content along with a higher level cap. These missions will reward players with cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, via airdrop upon completion. Rewards will also be awarded to the top players of each race at the end of each season. Netmarble is also working on a mobile version of the game minus the play-to-earn mechanics.

Other video game companies and personalities that have joined the blockchain bandwagon include Ubisoft, Square Enix, Nexon, and Citadel Studios, as well as Fable series creator Peter Molyneux and Twitch Co-Founder Justin Kan. EVE Online developer CCP Games has also expressed belief in NFTs but will not be diving into it just yet
