Sea of Thieves has officially launched on PlayStation 5, marking the first of several Xbox and PC-exclusive Microsoft titles to make its way to Sony’s next-gen console. The PS5 version brings a whole new group of players to the multiplayer pirate game with full cross-play and cross-progression between PC and Xbox so existing players can continue their seafaring adventures right where they left off.

Players on all platforms can also look forward to all-new content as Season 12 officially begins. The new season brings a collection of new tools and items that add a bit more variety to combat on the the high seas. Those include the new Double Barrel Pistol, Throwing Knives, and the Bone Caller, an enchanted bauble that can be thrown at your feet or fired from cannons to summon a crew of skeletons to fight for you.

Season 12 also shakes up ship-to-ship combat with the addition of the wind-calling Horn of Fair Winds artifact, scattershot for cannons, and harpoon tightropes. New ziplines have also been installed in various locations to allow for faster travel from high ground to sea level.

A new season means that new rewards are also up for grabs from the new season reward track. Earn Renown to rise up the pirate ranks and unlock new cosmetics, doubloons, and Ancient Coins. New Emissary rewards have also been added alongside the return of open crew matchmaking.
