Shroud Of The Avatar: Blessings, Mechanical Menageries, And Minecarts

If you’re fond of mechanical beasts, then you’ll like what the latest Shroud of the Avatar newsletter has in store for you. New Clockwork beasts have been added into the game to make life decidedly more “colorful” for players brave enough to venture into Kobold territory. These include mountain-lion sized attack dogs and cats, confusion-inducing attack ravens, as well as giant shock monkeys, oracle flyers, and oracle crawlers. All models come with extra-sharp claws, teeth, and spikes, and an extra dose of bad attitude.

The newsletter also heralds the addition of Town Blessings in Release 39, a concept that fans of Ultima games will probably be familiar with. The system works similar to the Virtue Shrine system of Old Britannia. Visiting a Shrine, or a Devotional as they’re called in Shroud of the Avatar, in an NPC town grants players different blessings depending on the type of Devotional and the town’s population.

In addition, the newsletter also gives readers a sneak peek into the making of K’rawl, a shipping tunnel that connects the Kobold capital city to the Kobold lab K’rul. Developers hope to have players C’rawling through the dungeon by release 39. Hop into a minecart and check out the tunnel sights for yourself in the video below or jump over to the Shroud of the Avatar official site for the full newsletter.
