Shroud Of The Avatar Rolls Back Servers By Over A Month Due To ‘Borked’ Release

Earlier this week, Shroud of the Avatar had to be taken offline due to a “borked” update that wreaked havoc on the fantasy MMORPG’s housing lots. The servers have been offline ever since and just recently came back on exclusively for internal testing.

Catnip Games assures founders and backers that “the game is not going away” followed by a lengthy explanation of what went wrong. Unfortunately, the issue also forced the team to roll the servers back in time by over a month to the state that it was in on August 24th.

“We have done everything feasible to avoid going this far back, but at this time this appears to be the safest thing to do,” the studio said. “Once tested for sanity (with your help) we will put this database on the Live server and restore everyone’s earned XP and gold as well as address other losses.”

Obviously, the loss of over a months’ worth of progress, grinding, and resources has riled up the game’s community, particularly those who’ve managed to grind out new epic and legendary items since last week’s new release. There are a few, however, who’ve simply resigned themselves to their fate and even one player offering to help recover materials lost from the rollback.

In any case, players can now enter the QA server to help the developers sort the mess out.
