World of Warcraft: The War Within is now that much closer to its release as Blizzard begins internal testing for the first of its three-expansion Worldsoul Saga storyline.

According to Wowhead, the expansion, a.k.a. Patch 11.0, is now live on the World of Warcraft developer server and, based on previous testing timelines, should be coming out sometime between July and August 2024.

However, despite Blizzard’s proclivity for leaks, it looks like the developers are keeping things under wraps for the time being. The internal Patch 11.0 build is unfortunately encrypted, which means that we won’t be seeing datamined previews anytime soon.

The War Within will mark the start of a new story arc for the long-running MMORPG and will be followed by two more expansions: Midnight and The Last Titan. Worldsoul Saga itself promises to take players on a multi-year journey that’s expected to end way, way off in 2030.
