Following a small kerfuffle about Kakao Games Europe's new plan to release Black Desert Online's Awakenings one by one in the NA/EU version of the game instead of releasing them all at once, as was previously announced, Kakao Games Europe announced today that, despite the planned fortnightly release schedule, all Awakenings will be released by the end of the year. The Warrior's Awakening will be first on August 31st, with the Sorceress's Awakening following on September 14th.

The reason that Awakenings are being released in two week intervals now is as follows.

The initial plan was to start releasing the awakenings around the end of this year, but the plan has been adjusted from what we’ve originally intended due to high demand. As seen in other regions, these updates usually took some time and were made over several months. However, our developers, Pearl Abyss, have indicated they would like to bring the NA/EU region up to the most current version of Black Desert Online by the end of this year. This is to ensure all players from around the world are able to enjoy the same new content upon release. The idea of releasing every existing class awakening before next year is also in the same vein.

Understandably, some players posting in the announcement's forum thread are still concerned about balance issues that will arise from not releasing all of the Awakenings at once, while others are wondering how all of the game's Awakenings will be released by the end of the year with only four months left.

Matt's Take:

While it is unfortunate that the game's Awakenings won't all be released at the same time, if it really does get the game up to date with other regions, it might very well be worth it in the long haul. Then again, it could also mean that, going forward, all content and features introduced will be less different from other regions than they have been in the past.

I also have to say that the release schedule does seem off. There are twelve classes, but only four months left in the year. Perhaps some Awakenings will be released simultaneously? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
