Vampire Survival MMORPG V Rising Talks Up Player Castles Ahead Of Early Access Launch
Gorging on tasty human blood and terrorizing the general population is all well and good, but you can’t really expect to rise to Dracula’s level without a big spooky castle to call your own. Never mind those sparkly vampires and their tricked out mansions. Luckily, V Rising players will have everything they need to build the castle of their dreams and the subject of villagers’ nightmares.
“The idea of the home is vastly prominent in vampire mythology, the epic presence of their manor looming above a sleepy little village. In a genre like survival games that focus on the shelter, it’s a natural fit for a vampire twist on the genre to use the concept of the vampire palace. We get to lean into that fantasy and provide players with all the tools they need to make a home that can be grand, majestic, but also compelling in its function.”
Having your own castle also has its perks aside from scaring off nosy humans and being a place to chill during the day. Your comfy coffin, which acts as your respawn point, is housed safely inside its walls along with any loot that you acquire during your nightly ventures. They’re also closely tied to progression and has areas for crafting and production stations that you can use to process loot and materials.
The castle itself is powered by the Castle Heart which is located in the center of the structure and also feeds on blood. It also acts as a living defense against attacks from other vampires. Castle Hearts that are well-fed and nourished with fresh blood will provide added layers of protection and will automatically repair damaged walls and structures.
“As long as blood is pumping through the Castle Heart, crafting and production stations will be working to provide everything needed to empower yourself for your dark escapades,” explained developer Stunlock Studios.
“If it seemed like you would be a regal dark overlord hammering away at a hunk of metal and sawing at wood to make your own swords and crossbows, think again!” they added. “Simply create workstations, drop the materials, and give the word. The castle does all the work, using the dark magic of blood craft to weave together deadly weapons, mix alchemical marvels, and stitch together armors and capes to the perfect measurements.”
Speaking of blood, you’ll also have the option to stock up on easy-to-access blood by capturing humans and placing them in prison cells. Alternatively, they can also be transformed into vampire servants to give you a hand in the day-to-day affairs of running a vampire castle, including gathering materials or as added defense against intruders.
Castles are also fully customizable and can be decorated according to your own tastes.
